Barnet Hospital Atrium Banners
The artwork responds to the busy main entrance two storey atrium space and the hospital staff in their every day working environment.
The piece comprises of four photo-digital cylindrical banners which hang from the ceiling of the two atria.Their cylindrical shape references structural columns
and plays with the notion of banners.The images were developed from interviews and observations of the hospital staff and are collaged as exquisite corpses - heads-bodies and legs.They merge together layers of characters and visual references to everyday life in the hospital environment. The cook, ambulance man, doctor and trolley lady merge with signage, cakes from the cafe and white coats from the laundry to form new graphics created from the heart of the working hospital.
